4x4 unity car demoThis demo has been built with the excellent Unity game engine. It demo’s the basics of 4×4 car physics and needs a reasonable amount of work to turn this into a game.

As yet the map is unfinished and there are no checkpoints and a start/finish point that need to be crossed. The game could really do with an opponent, but that has proved difficult creating the AI to make a car with the same 4×4 suspension follow way points. If there is no opponent then the game needs a reason for playing such as collecting certain pickups or doing something within a time scale. There is no sky box in this demo so the sky isn’t up to scratch yet.

Very cool driving demo, I was recently looking into using the Unity Engine to create a driving game, and was wondering if you could point me in a good direction to start? You have a great demo here! I am mainly a 3D artist, but looking to do some iPhone games for fun :) Hope to hear back! Thank you very much!

    Hi Gabriel

Thanks for the comments. The Unity website has some downloads available to show how to set up various basics. One covers driving games. I suggest you search the Unity discussion forum to get a feel for what others are doing and you will find links there to the downloads. I’d love to see what you create!

    Hi…good work
do you use only wheel collider or you have also an animated suspension system ?

    Hi Christian

This was done before the inclusion of a wheel collider so has the ray cast collider, that provides the suspension.

I must create a suspension system (of a buggy car) for a client who use unity 3D…Normally I create an animation with maya or 3d studio and the programmer set physics on it…but I don’t know how to do it on Unity….

    hey mark
    really nice demo…
out of curiousity, did you start with the car tutorial they have on unity website or you went through the trial error?
right now I am working on a FPS game which for one of the levels I definitely want to include a car and some sort of chase… so if you have any guidance for me I totally appreciate it.
